East Asia Pacific Centre
Globethics has been working in the East Asia Pacific region since 2010, with the regional centre currently hosted at the Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In 2022, Dr Dicky Sofjan was instated as the National Director. In 2023, Lakhsmi Subandi was appointed as Regional Manager and the local Indonesian foundation affiliated with Globethics: Yayasan Dharma Etika Madani (YADEMA), was launched.
- 3 sub-regions: East Asia (15 countries), Oceania (25 countries), and China (with Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan)
- 6 lecturers from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta working to co-develop and adapt the Responsible Leadership course for the Indonesian context and language
- 2 students from the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Graduate School in Yogyakarta, Indonesia selected as Globethics Work and Study Scholarship Fellows 2024, supporting their studies on ethics

In 2023, a local Indonesian foundation, Yayasan Dharma Etika Madani (YADEMA), affiliated with Globethics was established to ensure that the organisation's initiatives are contextually relevant and responsive to the needs and priorities of local communities, and to enable Globethics to leverage local expertise, networks, and resources to maximise its impact and reach.

Globethics Doctoral School 2024
From 24 September to 5 October 2024, Globethics, in partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, will organise its first Doctoral School for PhD candidates from around the world. The 12-day-long research-oriented programme will focus on the topic Ethics of Inclusive Peace and Responsible Governance. The Doctoral School is open to international and local Indonesian PhD candidates - apply now.
Responsible Leadership Course Co-Development Collaboration
Globethics and Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta have partnered to co-develop an adapted version of the Responsible Leadership course for the Indonesian context, with a focus on integrating relevant case studies and translating the course into the Indonesian language. Of 16 lecturers from various faculties who have participated in the Responsible Leadership course, 6 from the Faculty of Business and Economics are working to adapt the course to ensure its accessibility to Indonesian speakers.

Meet the team
In August 2023, Lakhsmi Subandi, a seasoned development professional with a distinguished career spanning 18 years in international development and government institutions, joined the team as Regional Manager of the Globethics East Asia Pacific Centre.
Lakhsmi also works alongside colleagues in the Geneva Head Office on Impact, Innovation and Development as part of the Support and Development Department.
Dr Dicky Sofjan is a Core Doctoral Faculty in the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies (ICRS), based in the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta. His teaching and research interests include religion, politics, pluralism, religious freedom, ethics and sustainability. Dr. Sofjan has been engaged in many inter-religious initiatives of the Government of Indonesia, namely with the Ministries of Religious Affairs and Foreign Affairs. As well as being East Asia Pacific Regional Director, Dicky is also a Globethics Board Member and Pool of Experts member.
