Stop Wars, Save Lives, Build Inclusive Peace
Statement of Globethics, 10 November 2023
The war in Israel and Gaza has made thousands of innocent victims among them civilians, including children, with a high risk of escalation and expansion already actual in South Lebanon. We condemn the horrific slaughter of civilians by Hamas in Israel and holding hundreds of civilian hostages. We Globethics, as an international organisation for ethical leadership, join our voice to the Secretary General of the United Nations by condemning the collective punishment of the population of Gaza by Israel, causing thousands of civilian victims with a major humanitarian crisis, and call for an immediate ceasefire.

COP28 and the Power of the Global Conscious Community
Insights of Executive Director Fadi Daou, 13 December 2023
Global politics is about navigating ambiguity to make out of it the best for the global common good. This COP will be remembered by the unprecedented reference to "transition away from all fossil fuels". Indeed, this statement represents a significant progress that has only been possible due to a transformative dynamic generated by the combination of forces of civil society, the scientific community, and the countries and people most affected by the climate crisis, who deserve to be named the 'global conscious community'.

Ethical Reframing of AI: Time for a Geneva Compact?
Exploring the feasibility of an ongoing multi-stakeholder compact centred on AI ethics, 16 November 2023
On 2 November 2023, as part of the prestigious Geneva Peace Week, Globethics hosted a policy briefing panel discussion around AI ethics in collaboration with the Club of Rome. The panel convened experts from various sectors (technologists, academia, the public sector, the private sector, and civil society) as well as diverse regions, perspectives, and generations.
Preceding the panel session, on 1 November, Globethics and the Club of Rome also convened a closed-door round table with 23 experts including those who spoke on the Geneva Peace Week panel. This marked an important and fruitful starting point for a multi-stakeholder Geneva Compact to reflect on ethical frameworks for AI. The outputs of the discussions will contribute to various policy processes including UNESCO’s second Ethics of AI Summit in February 2024, the WSIS 20+ Forum High Level Event in May 2024, and the United Nations Summit for the Future in September 2024.
