Abstract
The purpose of this PhD thesis is to make a philosophical analysis of the ethical problems that may arise in the context of social science research. Chapter 1 aims to briefly reconstruct the history of the ethics of social research and account for current developments and academic debates around these issues. Chapter 2 has to describe the main methodological strategies of the social sciences and to make an approach to the ethical problems. Chapters 3 and 4 focus on the particularized analysis of the ethical problems of social investigations in the light of various key concepts: harm, risk, benefit, autonomy, privacy and confidentiality.
