In partnership with the University of Colombo, this on-site Faculty Development Program (FDP) inspired by Paulo Freire’s philosophy, “we make roads by walking,” aims to promote ethical practices in higher education. Higher education institutions play a crucial role in advancing social, political, and economic health, achievable through committed ethics in teaching, administration, and career training. However, in today’s career-focused academic landscape, universities often struggle to prioritize ethics due to time constraints and limited resources for faculty dedicated to this purpose.

Globethics addresses this need with an internationally informed methodology that equips educators with the skills and motivation to embed ethics in their roles. Through focused and customized training, this FDP empowers faculty to actively participate in creating a culture of ethics within their institutions, moving beyond passive promotion to meaningful involvement in shaping ethical standards.

The program emphasizes the need for faculty to act as respected ethical role models, as respect for their conduct and commitment is essential to drive genuine transformation in education. This FDP thus aims to cultivate a supportive environment where faculty are valued for their ethical contributions, enabling them to inspire positive change throughout academia.

Ultimately, this program is not a single event but a continuous journey toward fostering a lifelong partnership with higher education institutions, focusing on creating lasting ethical practices that benefit students, faculty, and society at large.
